Here is a question that you are probably asking yourself:
Why should I
have an LPG conversion? |
That is a good question. Let me tell you that I would
not be in the LPG conversion business if I didn't think that
LPG made good sense, both financially, and for the
environment - I truly believe that.
An LPG conversion is more than an optional extra to a
vehicle like electric windows or a stereo.
There aren't many stereos which improve how much cash you
have in your pocket or make the air that we breathe a lot
cleaner. You also have the smugness factor, because
while others are paying for the congestion charge at £8.00 a
time, Powershift approved LPG converted cars - like most of
the cars that AFS converts - can legally avoid the charge.
You pay nothing!
|
Now I think that most people would have a conversion
but there are a few issues that need to be resolved.
|
Not least is the choice of
which company to choose. There are so many companies
out there which offer a conversion. Now at AFS we
believe in quality.
In the minds of most people
quality = expensive. You wouldn't buy a diamond from
some bloke you just met in a pub, nor would you buy a
conversion from some mechanic operating out of a shed. You
may laugh, but a lot of the work we have at
AFS is clearing up after other companies messy conversions.
This is the difference between us and most of the other
companies converting out there, the fact that the equipment
we use is the world’s best. That is how we add value to the
products let them speak for themselves.
AFS has always pitched for quality workmanship using quality
products.
'Converting on the best price', fitting
mass produced, second rate imitation kits will get you
nowhere.
The main reasons for a conversion to
LPG are
Cheap conversions will cause this to
happen:
-
Cheap LPG
kits can make your engine out of tune rapidly if not fitted
professionally. This means that you will be paying less for
fuel, but having to buy a lot more of it.
-
A vehicle
converted to LPG which hasn't been done by a Powershift
approved company will not be exempt from congestion charges.
So with a bad conversion, you are unlikely to
have the benefits that you are trying to get from your
conversion - and this is only if the conversion works!
There are many companies out there who will
charge big money for conversions which have major faults
with them such as vehicles which
are unsafe to use, having banks of OBD (On board
Diagnostics) manufacturer fault codes caused by poor
installations and systems, and poor performance on petrol.
Don't be a victim, choose
a reputable company.
|
How do you
choose a reputable company? |
This is one of the most important questions that you need to
ask. The best way to show you is with the
Powershift approved companies list,
(Look for us under Alternative Fuel Systems) this is a list
of companies which have been accredited and among other
things can give certificates allowing exemption from the
congestion charge. This is really the only way that
you can choose between companies in a largely unregulated
industry.
I hope that I have given you something to think about, I am
happy to discuss any part of converting your car, please
contact me or use the contact form below.
Yours sincerely,
Paul Quickenden

Rising tax on Petrol and a low tax on LPG
means that
LPG conversion is an economical
choice for all motorists. With an overall
lower cost for the fuel and an exemption to
congestion charges, this all means handfuls of
cash to spend on something more interesting. |
